Cake balls

June 27, 2009

A perfect fill in for cake at weddings is cake balls. These are fun and easy to make and you can pretty much do them in any flavor. YOu can make them ahead of time and freeze them if you need to.
First of, begin by baking a cake of your choice. Use the directions on the back of the box. Once the cake is done and cooled, place it in a large bowl and chop it up. Add either one can of frosting or the equalivalent of that of homemade frosting and mix well. Shape into small balls and place in freezer for at least half an hour.
Melt some almond bark, and dip each ball into that. You can place them back in the fridge to help them harden.
Many combos can be made. White, strawberry, cherry chip, chocolate, and confetti are all good with chocolate bark, and white and chocolate are good with butterscotch. White almond bark is good with almost any kind of cake balls. You can use either white frosting or anyother flavor.
