My best friend got married last January and I was her Matron of Honor. When she first asked me to stand up for her, I was afraid she would want me to wear a 20 something bridesmaid dress. I had visions of puffy sleeves and way too many ruffles. Nothing is worse than a 50-year-old woman in close not geared for her age. Plus, what if she picked an unflattering color. But worse yet I worried about the cost. With the economy the way it is splurging on a formal dress was not something I wanted to do.
I actually have not been in a wedding since I was eighteen. I also worried about hosting a wedding shower since for one she lives about 100 miles away from me and again added expenses. So finally, I brought up the subject and to my surprise, she said she did not want or need a shower since she already had a full household. Next I asked about the dress and she said, “Get any style and any color. I know you will pick something nice.” Oh happy day!
I ended up picking up and nice velour blue dress for about $40 that I absolutely love. And the wedding was one of the most wonderful days of my life!
