Arranged Marriages

Do arranged marriages work? This doesn’t concern many third world and developing world parents who just want their kid to be paired up. You can’t force love on somebody, and what if your child is not interested in the opposite sex? That would be discrimination, wouldn’t it? These are all arguments that those against arranged marriages have put forward.

But on the other side of the spectrum, parents say that it removes all of that nervousness a teen who tries to woo or court a partner goes through. Simply pairing people up removes all of that.

So, which is better? I’m not exactly in a position to say (as a single white male…) but I guess it’s just personal preferences. I’m sure in many countries a blood feud could be started by refusing to marry your arranged partner – I’m just thankful that I can choose whatever partner I would like!
