7 Wedding Planning Books Every Bridezilla Must Read | BrideZilla

April 20, 2009

The ever-awesome Bridezilla has a list of the Top 7 Wedding Planning Books. I am a big fan of the Emily Post etiquette series, and also of The Anti-Bride Guide. I think I’ve said before that I have a love-hate (ok, it’s more like love-annoyance) going on with Offbeat Bride. On one hand, creative brides! Non-traditional settings! And the book is a great memoir/guide. But on the other hand, how many chubby, tattooed girls in chucks before that’s the cliche bride of the anti-taffeta crowd?

Wedaholic.com: A Bit Of Fun From The Knot - How To Create Your Inner Bride!

April 20, 2009

If you’re in need of some light relief from wedding planning head over to The Knot and check out their “My Inner Bride” online wedding tool which allows you to create a wedding avatar of yourself.

Using their easy to use free wedding widget you can choose your own body, face shape, hairstyle, dress (you can mix and match necklines and skirts to create your perfect dress) and backdrop. They have some cute and cheeky accessories too for you to select from.

This is also great fun for bridesmaids and future brides — no groom-to-be or boyfriend necessary! I’m a bit embarrassed by how much time I spent on this little game!

April 20, 2009

“Why not?” I asked him. “Lots of people hyphenate!

A question for the brides-to-be. After you’re married, do you plan your keep your name, change your name or combine your name? Or do you, like Simpson’s Paradox, want to do something completely different? Are you going to keep one name for professional use and another for social use? Let us know in the comments!

Timberlake, Biel to tie the knot

April 19, 2009

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake might marry girlfriend Jessica Biel something this year.

Biel’s father Stephen Collins has no idea whether his daughter is already engaged to Timberlake, but say he “wouldn’t be surprised” if they walk down aisle later this year, reported mirror.co.uk.

“I didn’t hear that (they were rumoured to be engaged), but then again, i didn’t even know they were together two years ago when they started dating. I was walking a red carpet and someone said, ‘So what do you think of Jessica Beil and JT (Timberlake)? I didn’t even know who JT was!” Collins told the New York Daily News.

“I saw Jessie a few weeks agoand whe just seems really happy, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they were (engaged), Justin just seems like a really nice boy,” he added.

The actress was linked to the singer in 2007.

This is from Share Your Expertise:

You don’t have to break the bank to have a good honeymoon. There are a lot of ways to reduce costs without having a low-budget trip to a motel in the next town!

Check out an all-inclusive trip for a minimum of fuss and worry on your vacation. Most all-inclusive rates include your room, your meals, airport pick-up and drop-off, resort activities, and some also include drinks. Make sure your package covers what you want, and then head off for a stress-free, romantic escape!

Financing The Wedding

Some good advice on using your wedding expenses to pay for your wedding expenses!

If you’re using a credit card to pay for wedding expenses, use those points for your hotel or air tickets. Find out which of your accounts has the best return rate, and pay your wedding-related bills with plastic, knowing that when you book a caterer or wedding musicians, you’re also paying for your honeymoon.

What do you think? A good way to save, or jsut another chance to rack up credit card debt?

Planning Your Guest List

When planning your guest list, your wedding budget is probably the main consideration. But whether you’re having fifty or five hundred guests, you’ll have some of the same concerns.

Wedding planners say that between 10% and 20% of your invited guests won’t be able to attend. You might not want to invite 120% of the venue’s seating capacity – or your budget – but bear in mind that a large number of your guests may send regrets.

Natural Makeup for the big day

April 9, 2009

When you get married you want to look your best. You will be greeted by more people than you know and your pictures will last a lifetime. So you will need natural looking makeup. Here is the best way to apply it.
Begin with a foundation that is the same shade as your skin. Make sure to blend it in well, especially along the jawline. Set the makeup with a matching loose powder to control the shine.
Next apply a neutral shade of eyeshadow and blend it in well. Add two coats of brown mascara after curling the lashes. Sweept a light color of blush over the apples of the cheeks and blend, blend, blend. Finally apply a neatural lip liner, and then a neutral shade of lipstick.
Carry blotting sheets with you so you can blot the excess oil from your face before pictures or when you use the restroom. These are better than powder as you do not want to take the chance at getting makeup on your dress.
