If you are not paying for the bridesmaids dresses (and I have never been in a wedding that the bride does pay for it) then you need to let your bridesmaids have some say in the dresses I feel. True it is your wedding, but before you make the final call, ask your bridesmaids if they can afford the dress or if it feels good on them. Who wants to be in a wedding when they feel uncomfortable in the dress?
You may even decide to tell your bridesmaid that they can pick out whatever dress they please as long as the colors all match. I have been to a few weddings where the dresses where all the same color but they were different styles and it looked fine. This way every bridesmaid is happy about the dress that they are wearing. And if they are happy about what they are wearing, they will be able to show it.
