Wedding Photo Albums

January 15, 2009

The photographers at the Wedding Bureau Photographer Blog explain the difference between Matte and Flush albums.

There are so many album style choices these days. Excluding the “coffee table” album, the basic choice is between a modern look and a more traditional look. The “matted” style albums are more traditional while “flush” albums are more modern.

They get their names from the way the images are mounted into the album. A matted album is just that; it has a matt around each picture on each page, much like a matt around a painting you might have framed to hang on your wall. A flush album is when a picture or pictures are printed on a piece of photo paper that is the size of the pages in your album. That photo paper is then mounted directly onto the page. The surface is flat or “flush”.
