Wedding invitations are so expensive and since lots of people throw them away after the wedding anyway, I say why bother with expensive ones. I think people should make their own for this reason and because if you make your own your can personalize them how ever you want. Plus they will be so much cheaper if you make them yourself and often your bridesmaids want to help.
Decide what materials you will use. Often you can find some very nice paper at craft stores that is beautiful. Then come up with a design that you like using your computer and go at it. You could embelish with ribbons or other little craft items that you may find. You may also want to put a photo of you and your fiance on the invitation. Often times copy places have good deals if you want to do this.
This will save you lots of money that tends to be wasted in my book. And they will be more special.
I think this is great advice. I started doing my own invitations myself UNTIL I came across this : http://www.nepalesepaper.com and fell in love! It’s SUPER cheap and yes, you still must do most of it yourself BUT the hardest part is done. You can also ask for specific colors (mine was pink and chocolate brown) and everyone complimented me on these amazing invitations. Like I said, they are super cheap!!! Plus the owner is a sweetheart!
