Christmas Engagements?

December 28, 2008

I am betting that many new engagements occurred during the holiday season–which will make wedding consultant business owners happy. But with money so tight in the economy these days, many brides to be may be choosing to skip the bridal consultant fees and plan their wedding on their own.
If you are among those newly engaged, and are trying to decide how to plan your wedding, the best thing to do first is create a realistic budget. A wedding that consumes savings may be wonderful, but will leave some couples devasted when the big day is over.
Things to budget for include fees for the ceremony location, reception, wedding dress, bridesmaid gifts, flowers for the bridal party as well as the ceremony locale, band/ music for the reception, rehearsal dinner, grooms tuxedo, groomsmen gifts, and of course, the honeymoon. And don’t forget about centerpieces for the tables at the reception, license fees, and invitation costs.
There are so many expenses involved in weddings and couples need to take the time to write, plan and revise their expected costs so their budget will cover everything. Get started planning as soon as possible, especially if there will not be a wedding consultant involved. Write down the major areas of expense, and then go back and see where you can creatively cut costs. Perhaps make your own centerpieces? Plan the rehearsal dinner in a backyard instead of an expensive fancy restaurant? Make unique gifts for the wedding party?
By planning early and being creative, couples can save on the costs of hiring a wedding consultant, and have a beautiful wedding that they can afford.
