Spending Unnecessary Dollars
December 26, 2008
Getting married is very expensive these days. But you can have a great wedding without breaking the bank. Just plan on doing lots of the work yourself. Do not hire a wedding planner. I think this is such a waste of money. If you are grown up enough to get married, you should be grown up enough to handle all the things that go with planning a wedding.
Decide a place that you can afford to have the wedding at. It can just be a hall. Even if the place is not the most desirable, you would be amazed at what several balloons and decorations can do. Candles can make a room feel warm and inviting and are often only $1. Plus you can send these home as little reminders of your wedding.
Plan on making the meal yourself. You can save tons of money doing this. Catering is so expensive and often home cooked meals are so much better anyway.

I agree! I would also add a few things….
1. never buy anything with the word ‘wedding” next to it ex. “wedding shoes” “wedding purse” etc since they are marked up about 75% more just for that simple word attached to it. Just look for beautiful white shoes/purse.
2. Plan ahead an pay as you go. That way you won’t have a huge bill at the end!
3. Marry on a Sunday or Mon-Thurs.
4. Have your bridesmaids be your wedding planners…put them to work!
