Select a place for the wedding

October 23, 2008

One of the most important thing to do for the wedding is the place. We have to choose the right place to welcome our guests and our families and sometimes it is not easy to choose between to reserve a castle or an extraordinary hotel or a restaurant with a beautiful and big garden for instance.
Of course it will depend a lot how much we can or we want to spend for this particular day. Well the most important point is not that, cheaper or expensive, but the timing. Indeed, everyone (rich or poor) has to fight against the time and it is best to start to look for a place minimum 1 year before the day D.
If you own a big place with a big garden, the problem is solved but in case not, like majority of us, we have to start to search one and to reserve it before that someone else take it. Normally there are free places during summer season, you will have more chances before or after and moreover the prices will be more cheaper. When you find the place, before to reserve it, you have to check few things like the parking, the light, the accessibility for old people, the toilet and so on. After inspection and all are ok, dont wait if you like the place, reserve it !!!

Wedding Receptions

October 20, 2008

Weddings will never be complete without having a good reception after the ceremony. This is another factor wherein couples does have a hard time to look for a perfect wedding reception.

Looking for a good reception does really needs a good research and do consider the foods to be served as well. This also will cause some good amounts of money but it will surely be ignored once you find a good reception that you will like.

Some does looks for a hotels while others consider having a garden inspired wedding reception. This is now the trend. Having a garden reception will surely make your wedding natural and beautiful. While if you chose to do it in a hotel your wedding will look so classy and elegant. So better decide well for the wedding reception cause not just the ceremony will matter after your wedding.

Wedding shoes

October 20, 2008

Ready for the wedding ??? No because you cant find the right shoes for your dress or your suit ??? A lot of people forget about this simple accessory but it is very important since people not only will see your dress but also which kind of shoes you have selected to match your dress or your suit.
For man, the shoes should be black and very elegant, i will recommend you italian shoes. For woman, depending of your dress, it should be white but if you decide with your future husband to make an hawain wedding, an elegant shoes will not correspond !!!
The price to spend is around 100 and 500$ but the price doesnt matter since it will be the most happier day of your life.

The wedding announcement

October 15, 2008

The annoucement or invitation card is used to communicate the necessary informations like the day of your wedding. It should include both names, the place, the date and the time of the religious ceremony (normally only the religious ceremony should appear).
Sometimes it is hard to find how we want to present this card (in one page, 2 pages, inside an envelope…). Traditionally, it should be in 4 pages and it should be done by the grandparents, the parents of the future husband and the parents of the future wife who announce the wedding of their children. Nowadays, it is more and more common that this card is done by the newlyweds who announce their own wedding.
Or something more original, create your announcement in 2 parts, a classic one for your parents and familly and a funny one for you and your friends.

Wedding dress not too expensive

October 13, 2008

When we are going to get married, there are a lot of things to do if we want that all things will be perfect and ready. And most important it is the wedding dress, without it there is no wedding !!! So we have to be careful to select the one we will like since those dresses are quite expensive but if you are looking for something very nice and you dont want to spend a lot, you can check in ebay by searching edresse.
You will find beautiful wedding dresses and very cheaper between 150 and 300 bucks. And for this price, the dress is totally new (not second hand) and the time for the delivery is around 3 weeks !!! The bad thing is that if you need to change something, you will have to do it by yourself or look for someone but even for that, you will be able to save a lot of money

The Origins Of Valentine’s Day

October 9, 2008

The Romans, not being familiar with Massachusetts weather, thought that spring began on February 5th. So, like most fertility rites, Lupercalia takes place in early spring, February 15th.

Young men would start out in the cave of Romulus and Remus, and sacrifice a goat there. Some sources (especially one named Alex) do say dog, but I think a goat would be a bit more appropiate since goats are frequently tied with sex by the Greeks and Romans. *cough, cough* Satyrs. Also because the word for goat-skin is “februum”, another word for Lupercalia is “dies februata”, and then the month in which the holiday occurred became Februarius, and thus our February.

After the required religious ritual and religious drinking (it is a Roman holiday after all) the young men would dress up in the bloody skins and run through the streets, hitting women with strips of goatskin. Young wives would try to get whipped because it brought fertility and could also ease childbirth pains for pregnant women.

This is alluded to the beginning of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar when he tells Calpurnia to try to get hit, but actually the Lupercalia was not terribly popular during Caesar’s reign. Suetonius writes that Augustus brought it back into popularity (because it suited the moral reforms he was trying to make with the Lex Julia).

Our Valentine’s Day just celebrates those who are coupled, but the Romans being cheerfully polytheistic, used this ceremony to honor Romulus and Remus, also Lupercus, Faunus and a little-known fellow called Februus. Poor Februus was the Etruscan god of the underworld, who somehow got himself associated with sex and flogging. That’s what happens when your followers praise you in a language isolate instead of good ol’ Indo-European. Like the rest of the underworld gods, he was associated with caves, so he was probably hanging out w/ the shades of Romulus and Remus when the drunken teenagers showed up for the sacrifice and orgy.

Wedding Reception Events

October 9, 2008

The wedding ceremony is finally over and the last picture at the ceremony site has finally been taken. You both are hungry. It is time to celebrate! The reception is often the aspect of the wedding that receives the most planning. It’s also the aspect that needs most of the budgeting!

Usually while the wedding party is taking pictures, the guests head over to the reception site. If there is going to be a sit-down dinner and the budget allows, it is very thoughtful and a wonderful idea to have some drinks and hors d’oeuvres waiting for your guests to enjoy. We did not choose this type of setting for our wedding in December of 2006. It will cost us almost double.

We then decided on a buffet-style setting. If the reception is buffet in style, many brides and groom opt to allow guests to eat before the couple arrives at the reception. The only issue I have with this practice is that people will often leave before the bride and groom arrive. If you don’t want to open the buffet before your arrival, again the beverages and hors d’oeuvres are a good idea.

When the bridal party arrives, the emcee announces their grand entrance. The wedding party comes in first and the newlyweds come in last. Everyone’s name is announced. If desired, the relationship to the couple may be stated as well.

There are still some couples who want to have a receiving line so that they will see all of those who came to help them celebrate. If you would like to have a receiving line, do so as soon as you arrive. Again, if you don’t have the receiving line as soon as you arrive, people will leave.

Once everyone is at the reception, toasts are made. The traditional toasters are the best man and parents of the bride and groom. This is the parents’ opportunity to formally thank all of their guests for coming.

The first dance is a tradition that endures to this day. Usually the husband and wife start off the dancing and no one else dances before them. In addition to the newlyweds, the bride and her father as well as the groom and his mother often share a dance.

Two other traditions at receptions are cutting the cake and tossing the bouquet and garter. The couple would be wise to discuss covering each others’ faces in cake versus making a clean exchange before the wedding. Even with this discussion, beware!

The final event of the reception is the final dance. After the final dance, the bride and groom leave the reception. The guests shortly follow and then the parents all collapse in a big heap! It has been a long day, but didn’t we all have fun?

The perfect wedding

October 8, 2008

I have heard a lot of stories who wants to have a perfect wedding but how can you really say that your wedding is a perfect one?

Maybe it will really depends on how one will define the perfect wedding. Some will say that a perfect wedding will be a one that has a big budget. Wherein you have the best wedding gown, the entourage has a beautiful dresses, the event was highly coordinated, the food was great etc. While some will say a perfect wedding is something that was simple and intimate in short money matters is not that big value on a wedding.

Well, anyway you will define how perfect your wedding is nothing will really beats if you come and walk down the aisle having the perfect and clean intentions of getting married. And you will really vow for that person behind you to love him/her all your life.

Wedding gift

October 8, 2008

It is never easy to find the right gift when you are going to participate to a wedding birthday. Of course the choice depends a lot if you are the husband or the wife who will offer the gift, or the child or a friend…
What you can do to get idea, it is to create a list corresponding of the wedding year. For example, the 1st year is linked to the cotton, the 2nd year to tin, the 20th to porcelain, the 25th to silver, the 30th to pearl, the 35th to ruby, the 40th to emerald, the 45th to vermeil, the 50th to gold, the 75th to alabaster and the 100th to water.
So following the birthday wedding year, you can do a check list of all products which are related with the material and on this way, to buy a perfect gift to celebrate this particular moment.
