My Very Cheap Wedding

When my husband and I planned our marriage, we didn’t have much money. In fact, we had next to no money. I had never wanted a big fancy wedding with a long white dress and huge reception. For those who do want that, that’s fine for them. I’m all for being practical. The dress I wore for my wedding also doubled as a church dress.

We used my aunt’s house to get married in. The doorway from the living room to the hall was arched and I thought it would be perfect to get married under. I was right! My husband’s uncle, who was a pastor, performed the ceremony. My aunt made our cake to my specifications. She used a white cake mix and vanilla frosting. For the edging around the cake, she mixed some of the vanilla frosting with dry strawberry jello. It was heart shaped and two tiered. All in all, my wedding cost right around $15.

Other people might not think so but I thought I had a beautiful wedding and I wouldn’t change it for nothing.
