Wedding Dress Red Wine Stain Removal
April 23, 2008
There is no worse feeling than to be enjoying a nice glass of red wine and have some spill on your beautiful wedding dress. Months have gone into planning your wedding and finding the perfect wedding gown. First thing, do not panic if you get a small red wine stain on your wedding dress.
Ask the caterer for a couple of clean white napkins. Lightly moisten the cloth with clean water or with club soda. Dab and blot the red wine spot. Switch parts of the napkin and keep dabbing and blotting. Do not rub the red wine stain on your wedding dress. Dab and blot until the
majority or all of the stain is removed.
Use talcum or baby powder to lightly cover the stain. This will disguise the stain on the dress so that you can have a great time without a lot of worry and fuss.
Wedding Ideas That Are Unique and Personal
April 19, 2008
There are many ideas available for brides to be that are unique and fun for receptions, favors and decorations. Just by searching on the Internet, you are sure to find ideas that will inspire you and maybe add just the special touch that you are looking for.
I have come across a couple of such ideas that are so creative and easy, I thought I would share them here.
Instead of having the customary guest book for people to sign, have a large silver tray at the reception. You can buy engraving tools or pens at stationary stores and hardware stores. When your guests arrive at the reception, have them sign the tray. What a beautiful lasting memento of your wedding day!
Have someone assigned at the reception entry to take pictures of guests as they arrive with an instant camera. When you write and mail your thank-you cards, include the picture of the guests, signed and dated by you.
Create a warm cocoa recipe favor by filling a glass container with a homemade recipe created by you (find a delicious aomatic recipe on the Internet) or use a premixed blend. Tie a warm colored ribbon around the glass container and add a tag with a personal message.
Wedding Guests and Seating
April 18, 2008
When you get engaged and start planning your wedding, the seating arrangements at the reception may not be a priority in your mind. While it’s true that other things on your list need to be done first, do plan to spend some time on this important aspect of your reception.
Keep in mind that it will be best to wait until all your RSVP cards have come in before you start working on the seating arrangement. You will just waste time and energy if you start setting table groups before you know who is actually going to be at your wedding reception.
Once you do have the guest list determined and RSVP’S are in, it is time to get to work on this wedding detail. It may take some patience and re-dos, but you want to make your guests feel as comfortable as possible. Start with close family. If you will be having a separate head table for wedding members, try to place you and your spouse’s closest family members nearest to the head table.
For guests that are more friends of your parents, get the advice from your parents regarding seating arrangements. It is always nice for guests to sit at a table where they know at least one other couple, if possible.
Single guests will enjoy a singles type of table. If someone will be attending your wedding sans a partner, it could be uncomfortable for that guest to be sitting at a table with all couples!
Make sure you have a name card for each and every guest attending, even young ones. Also, have some extra name cards and seats/chairs available for unexpected guests. Don’t be upset if you notice (which you probably won’t anyway..you’ll be floating up on cloud nine!) some guests switching their name cards. The important thing is for everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves.
Lastly, as the party goes on, guests will be moving around and sitting at different tables. This has nothing to do with your seating arrangements, don’t worry, but shows that your guests are feeling comfortable and sociable, and that is a good thing!
Still looking for the perfect spring wedding tiara?
April 18, 2008
If you’re still looking for your perfect wedding tiara and your spring wedding is approaching fast, why not consider this lovely 14 karat gold Abigail Adams tiara replica?
It’s gold plated, so it’s lovely and has real gold without being a complete budget-breaker at only $64.50. The off-white roses are made of porcelain and will add a sense of romance to your wedding as well as your all-important wedding day hairdo.
This tiara, inspired by a tiara that was part of the wedding of first lady Abigail Adams took place in 1764. A simpler time definitely brings us a simple, classic look. This replica tiara will look amazing on all types of wedding day hairstyles, from an updo, to a partial updo, to a style that lets your hair down. This is also a great tiara for brides with short hair, as it is not an overpowering, huge tiara that requires piles of curls on your head to make it work.
Everyone knows the tiara is a brides chance to go from a standard bride in a white dress to the “WOW” bride that everyone can’t get enough of. With this tiara you will know what it feels like to be belle of the ball, and your wedding guests will be amazed at how amazing your hair looks paired with the gold highlights that show throughout from the well-crafted base.

As if the roses weren’t enough to bring wedding drama, there are small clusters of light pink lilies surrounding the roses. Small enough that they don’t take away from the roses, and it doesn’t look like you have an entire garden on your head.
A great wedding tiara choice for the romantic bride.

Dealing with Musicians
April 17, 2008
For most, a big part of the wedding day is having the musicians in place, not only for walking down the aisle and a special song during the ceremony, but also for the reception afterwards. Even though most musicians are professional wedding goers, you want to make sure that you have everything in place for them. With following a few simple rules, you can make sure that the songs for your wedding are in place.
1. Know what songs you want for the waiting time before the ceremony, walking down the aisle and for after the wedding vows are done. Even if it’s the traditional songs, letting them know what your ideal sound is will make them happy.
2. Plan ahead of time. No matter how long a musician or band has been performing, they still have to practice what you want. Make sure that you let the musicians know at least a month ahead of time - or expect the music to not be quite in place. The sooner you can let them know what you have in mind, the easier it will be on everyone.
3. Have the equipment in place. If nothing else, check with the musicians to see what they need. Mentioning words like ‘PA system for sound’ or back tracks on a CD will help them to feel comfortable and like you are prepared. If you need, bring in a sound person to help.
4. Be prepared. Make sure that the musicians come in for sound checks either during the rehearsal or before the wedding, being there at least an hour in advance. Nothing is worse than not having the right sound for live musicians, or even a DJ. Making sure that the musicians come for the rehearsal is an easy way to handle this; however, make sure they know before hand.
5. Know your reception. Let the band or musician know if they are playing at the reception, how long and what type of music you want - especially for things like the first dance. This doesn’t have to be as prepared as the rest of the wedding, but it will still help the musicians feel comfortable and ready to play.
From a professional wedding singer to a violin quartet, preparing your musicians for your special day shouldn’t be overlooked. It will help to get everyone walking down the aisle to the right beat and help your wedding to be flawless.
How to Find Your Perfect Plus Size Wedding Dress
April 16, 2008
Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and so do beautiful brides. Plus size brides may have to look a little harder but the perfect dress is out there for us too. When shopping for a plus size wedding dress there are just a few things to keep in mind.
Taking your time is the first important step. Don’t feel like you have to settle, and don’t get discouraged if the first shop you visit has limited selection. Taking the time to research shops beforehand can save some frustration. Some bridal shops specialize in plus size dresses, while many only carry plus sizes to 14 or 16.
If you find a shop with limited size and selection let the employees know about their lost sale. The more plus size women make our buying power known the more choices we will have.
No two women are shaped exactly the same. Take your measurements and compare them to a standardized size chart. Bridal shops will often offer this service, but it’s easy to do at home. Are you more of a size 22 in your chest and a 20 in your hips? That may indicate a need to choose separates, or to consider an empire waisted wedding dress that will flow with your beautiful curves. Accurate measurements are also vital if you decide to shop online.
If finding a dress locally is a hassle, buying plus size wedding dresses online is a dream. Online is where you will find the best selection and range of prices. Be sure to place your order far enough in advance to make returns or alterations. Wedding forums can also be a good place to check for advice on designers and online retailers.
Have You Made Your Wedding Website Yet?
April 16, 2008
This is a fun and relatively easy thing to do, and is getting more and more popular these days. First, decide what type of information you want to share on your website. Everything to do with the engagement, i.e, how the proposal happened, pictures of the ring, pictures of happy smiles, how you both felt, etc.? Do you want to make frequent updates with posts about your dress shopping experiences, flower confusion, caterer choices, etc? Do you want to invite suggestions, advice, or create polls? Or do you want to make it simply a site that announces your engagement, with updates to dates and such?
There really is no end to how you customize your wedding website. Some couples even keep it going long after the ceremony is over, and add honeymoon pictures and stories, pregnancy announcements, anniversary etc. And family and friends will of course love to visit your site to see pictures of bridal showers, the Wedding Day pictures, Reception pictures, etc.
You can start your own site from scratch if you are HTML literate and computer-savvy, or if you are like me and not so much computer savvy, you can use a site such as ewedding.com and start setting up a website right away!
Have fun, be creative, and enjoy sharing your wedding excitement with friends and family!
Preparing for a Last Minute Wedding
April 16, 2008
Are you so in love that you know that you want to get married… now? If you are ready to jump the broom by next week, there are easy ways to make sure that you get the wedding together without the pain and suffering.
The first thing to remember is that it has to be simple. It can still be nice, but you aren’t going to get extravagant in a week, or even a month, unless you have a great wedding planner. Even with the decorations, cake and reception, go simple and go ready made. It will make everything become a smooth transition.
Even if you are thinking simple, a last minute wedding can be hard because of bookings. If you want music, someone to marry you, a specific place to get married, and family members to come, check the dates with them first and have a back up plan in case it doesn’t work. Music can still be effective if it is on a CD, almost anyone should be able to marry you, and expect the family members to only be those that are near and dear to your heart. Since it is last minute, expect to be flexible with the options.
Once you get past the major needs, everything is cake. You will want to find simple decorations, or just keep it at flowers, and a reception that just needs a caterer or that can be done in the backyard. Many times, those who are ready to get married but think the party needs more planning, will just have a marriage, then will wait for the reception until even a month later. This is a great way to get hitched fast without all of the fuss.
With a smaller check list and a little time, preparing for a last minute wedding can be simpler than thought. As long as you allow things to go… close to what was planned, you will come out with a new ring and smelling like roses.
Slideshows Make Nice Touches At Receptions
April 15, 2008
Slide show presentations are easier to do these days than ever before. And just imagine the special personalized touch a moving slide show can bring to your wedding day.
There are different options you can choose for a slide show. You can make it like a diary of you and your spouse’s relationship since you first met. You can go back in time to show the both of you as babies and your childhoods, and ultimately your adulthood. You can choose to focus on the wonderful people in your lives that have nurtured, cared for and supported each of you in your lives. Or make it as a collage including aspects of all of the above ideas.
Music will be a key element of your slide show. You want the music to convey to friends and family emotions that the pictures bring out in you, and in turn, to them. Take your time choosing the right songs to go with your photographs.
Mix current pictures with older black and white photos. Add old film footage, if your family has some, along with newer videos you may have taken recently.
Try to make sure your final presentation tells a story of some sort, for guests to really become involved and get to know even more about you both as a couple. Think carefully about what you want your family and friends to get from watching your photographic story.
Decide if you want to have your slide show presented at the wedding ceremony itself, the reception ( a more popular choice, I think), or even at the rehearsal dinner. Get help from a professional if you love the idea, but really don’t know where to start. And start looking through old photographs and family members photos for you and your spouse as soon as possible.
