Selecting the Perfect Wedding Dress Shoes

February 27, 2008

Many times brides don’t think about wedding dress shoes until the last minute. However, wedding dress shoes are an important part of the wedding day clothing. The first thing to remember is that when you go for your final fitting of your wedding dress, make certain that you take your shoes with you. You will need them to do the final length of the dress.

Select shoes that are comfortable and feel good on your feet. You will be standing in front of relatives and friends for the big day and then attending the reception. The last thing that you want is to worry about your feet hurting and aching. After all this is one of the most important days of your life. Try the shoes on and walk around the store in them to make certain that they are comfortable and feel good.

Fantastic Painted Wedding Cakes

February 26, 2008

I know I said that cakes are the least interesting part of the wedding, but these cakes from Something Old, Something new are making me reconsider. Gorgeous!

If you’re interested in a cake that’s not a traditional white layered cake, but you want something more celebratory than a pile of donuts, check out these cakes from JollyBe Bakery! They have some amazing sclupted cakes, as pictured on Something Old, Something New, but I think I like their painted cakes even more. I’d love this Chinese wedding cake…

And I love this Tiffany-inspired design!

Nascar Wedding Favors

February 20, 2008

Nascar is back with Daytona 500 just having been premiered. Some couples are so into Nascar that they have a Nascar theme wedding. But what would you do for a wedding favor for this theme? On the tables for the reception you can have Nascar buckets that are filled with beautiful flower arrangements. Table cloths can have racing flag runners.

For a very tight budget and a lot of guests you can do small racing flags as the wedding favors. For fewer guests and a larger wedding favor budget you can get miniature die cast cars of different Nascar drivers. You can give the bridal and groom parties large die cast Nascar cars, caps or shirts of the bride and groom’s favorite drivers.

Beach Themed Wedding Favors

February 20, 2008

Wedding favors are an integral part of the wedding activities and getting ready for a wedding. A friend of mine asked me about some ideas for a wedding she is going to have on the beach. The dinner party is going to be a bonfire on the beach the night prior to the wedding. How in the world would you do wedding favors for this type of event?

We had such a good time discussing the wedding that I thought I’d share with you what she and I came up with for her beach wedding. Her beach themed guest book is going to be on a small table behind all the rows of chairs for guest members to sign. In a clear beach bag, she is going to fill it with seashells. This will enable all the guests to have a shell to remember the big day.

For the actual wedding dinner, we wanted to come up with something fun and festive. To fit the beach theme, she found some very cute miniature sand castle soaps. They are even supposed to have a grainy texture to them. She is going to place them in a seashell decorated basket at the bonfire for all the guests that were part of the rehearsal dinner and pre-wedding celebration to have to take home with them.

On Makeup

February 14, 2008

I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t like how I look in makeup. It’s gooey, even the most expensive brands tend to make me break out, and it is high maintenance. So what am I going to do? Don’t gasp too loud girls. I’m not going to wear any. No makeup, whatsoever, on my big day. So many people have gone against my decision, saying I should look my best on my big day. I don’t think covering all my imperfections makes me look my best. Your husband obviously loves you if he is marrying you. I think being imperfect is part of a woman’s charm.

Break out of the molds girls, be pretty for who you are.

Beijing’s New Wedding Rings!

February 12, 2008

Living in Beijing, it’s hard to get away from Olympics merchandise. Olympic t-shirts, stuffed animals, hats, even dishes and bicycles! And now there’s an Olympic wedding ring!

Eighteen sets of wedding rings with the theme of the Beijing Olympic Games were unveiled in Beijing on Friday.

The diamond rings are the first Olympic licensed precious metal products with a practical use, compared with past products issued for collectors.

The words “Beijing 2008,” the Beijing Olympic emblem and the Olympic Rings are inscribed on all rings issued, and a supervisor’s report, a certificate of origin and a serial number are attached to each set to ensure their quality. Also, consumers can check their authenticity online.

Read the whole thing, and see pictures of the new rings, here!

“Green” Wedding Gowns

February 11, 2008

Joyce’s recent post on green weddings got me thinking about ways to incorporate concern for the environment into a wedding. In my mind, weddings are full of limited-use decorations and single-wear dresses, so there’s room to cut a lot of waste. But can you have an environmentally-friendly wedding, that’s still beautiful?

The ladies of WeddingBee recently wrote about cotton wedding gowns, with pictures of simple, yet elegant cotton dresses. These would look lovely at any wedding — green or not — and they have the ability to be redyed and worn again.

What do you think? Are green weddings a hippie fad or the trend of the future?

Workout for Your Wedding Gown

February 10, 2008

Did you know that planning a workout with your wedding gown in mind can give you not only increased energy for all the upcoming wedding events but can make you feel more beautiful and sexy in your wedding gown? The whole purpose of a workout with your wedding gown in mind is not to lose huge amounts of weight but to help you stay focused on your health and fitness. Too often, people can get completely lost in the wedding planning process and not continue their workouts or think that it’s too late to start a workout program.

Focus on Workouts That Are Goal Oriented

Focus on workouts that are goal oriented. For example, if you have a low fitness level perhaps start walking each day to build up your stamina and your strength. Many brides find that a daily walk helps to clear their heads from all the stresses and planning that is involved for the wedding day. Movement gets your blood circulating and will make you feel better over-all in life. You will enjoy being in better shape as your wedding draws nearer and there are many things to attend to.

Start a Fitness or Wellness Journal

One thing that is a fun keepsake from your pre-wedding period is a fitness or wellness journal. You can write down daily the activities you did to be active and the types of food that you ate. Read over your journal and find ways that you can comfortably improve both your fitness levels and your eating habits. It is easy to make small changes in your diet, such as a piece of fruit for a snack instead of a cream-cheese bagel. It is fun to look back that you were able to only walk to the mailbox and back but now two months later are walking around the block not once but twice.

Tone Your Arms

Many bridal dresses show off the arms and neck of the bride. It can never hurt to spend a little bit of time each day working on building strength and muscles in your arms. The good news is that you don’t have to go to the gym in order to do this part of your workout for your wedding gown. There are some simple arm exercises that you can do daily and build up the number of repetitions. Without dieting or spending a huge amount of time in your already busy day, you will be able to tone and shape your arms to look more flattering in your wedding gown on your big wedding ceremony day.

Tone Your Facial Muscles

Many brides do not think about their facial muscles when it comes to weddings. There are some simple exercises that you can do to tone your facial muscles over time. You don’t have to join a gym to benefit from these exercises and you will look your best in your wedding gown by taking a few minutes each day to work on this area of toning your body.

Just a Few Minutes Each Day

As you can see, you can spend just a few minutes each day to improve your over-all body tone, increase your fitness level and look your best in your bridal gown. You can workout for your wedding gown without having to join a gym or spend large sums of money. It just takes a little dedication and time each day. You will feel more confident and be healthier. Whether you are getting married next week or six months from now it is never too late to start a workout for your wedding gown.

How to Handle Pre-Wedding Fights

February 10, 2008

When it is time to tie the knot, many couples find that they end up in pre-wedding fights. The stress and strain of wedding planning can take its toll and create tie the knot wedding fights. How you choose to handle these tie the knot wedding fights will enable you to build a longer and stronger relationship as a couple. Here are some handy tips for handling those pre-wedding fights that often happen when a couple is engaged in wedding planning.

Set a Wedding Budget

Many couples have a general idea of how much they plan to spend on their wedding. As things begin to progress, the amount seems to grow larger and larger. The financial stress from the wedding planning can create riffs and tiffs that end up in tie the knot wedding fights. To reduce stress for everyone, set a wedding budget that is detailed. For example plan how much will be spent on flowers, decorations, rehearsal dinner and so forth. If there is a squabble, you can simply revert to the detailed wedding budget instead of arguing with one another.

Plan a Few Romantic Dates

She’s trying to pick out flowers, dresses and decide on a caterer. He’s helping to address invitations, select the perfect honeymoon and help choose the rehearsal dinner food. Before you know it, a couple has very little time for anything but everyday responsibilities and wedding planning. This can cause the wedding couple to feel alienated from one another and take the fun out of getting married. Plan a few romantic dates together to just get away from everything and not even talk about the wedding. This will give you quality time together to relax and to re-focus your relationship on the original reasons that you are getting married.

Delegate Tasks to Others

Often a wedding couple can feel as though the weight of the world is on their shoulders in planning and getting ready for the wedding. Delegate tasks to friends, family members and wedding party participants to ease the stress and strain of planning your wedding. This will keep you more relaxed and enable you to enjoy this time together more. You will decrease the number of the tie the knot wedding fights by allowing others to help you and take the burden off you as a couple. Remember to focus on the reasons that you fell in love and chose to tie the knot instead of all the hectic details of wedding planning.
